Faith

Faith is trusting in the truthfulness, worthiness, and goodness of God.  We have faith in the fact that Jesus lived the life we could not live and paid our debt that we can not pay. Because of this, we have faith that we are eternally saved and brought back into a right standing before God through the works of Jesus Christ.

We are granted repentance and given faith in the person and works of Jesus.  That he was the fulfillment of God's plan prophesied about in the Old Testament.  That he came as God in the flesh and lived a perfect life for us.  While he was in our flesh, he taught God's truths for all time.  He then went to the cross to atone for our sin; as a result, God gave us his righteousness (Rom. 4:13) and justified us (Rom. 5:1).  Now we can have absolute hope in our eternal life with God.

Even though we do not see God face to face we have the absolute hope and assurance that he is good and that his sacrifice is more than enough for us to be reborn, reunited, and live with God forever (Heb. 11:1).

We are saved by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) and given direct access or our Father in Heaven whom adopted us (Rom. 5:2,).  Because of the works of Jesus we can be confident and stand firm in our faith in all that he has done for us (2 Cor. 1:24).  We can know that we have received His Spirit in us by faith (Gal. 3:14) empowering us to live by faith (Rom. 1:17) and do works that are pleasing to God in faith (1 Tim. 1:4) and we confidently wait for Christ's return because of faith (Gal. 5:5).

Even though we do not need evidence FOR faith, we have evidence OF faith through Holy Scripture and the person and works of Jesus Christ.  Our faith is solid because it is not in us or anything of this world but in God.  Evidence of faith is seen in Able's offering to God verses Cain's (Genesis 4:4; Hebrews 11:4). Because genuine faith compels an absolute acceptable response.  When we live our lives by faith, the evidence is being someone new; of whom seeks to please God (2 Corinthians 5:17).  Faith compelled Noah to do something seemingly outrages to the world around him (Gen. 6). It is then completely impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6). Thus genuine faith WILL compel good works (evidences) to follow (James 2:26).
