Jesus Is Coming Back!

This is His promise and God is completely faithful to his promises.  Jesus is coming back.  Jesus first came to pay for the sins and ransom all those who believed through history.  He came as the faithful suffering servant of God.  But that wasn't the end of God's revealed plan for humanity.  In the future ordained time He will return to judge the world and rule as king over all creation.  Just as his first purpose was revealed and prophesied in scripture (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7), the second purpose is also (Zechariah 14:4).  Just as the first purpose of coming into the world was perfectly fulfilled (John 1:1-20), the second purpose will be also (Zechariah 12:10) and the whole world will know (Revelation 1:7).

What Will Happen At His Second Coming?

  1. There will be a sign that the whole world will see; and they will know exactly what is about to happen.
  2. The believers will rejoice (Titus 2:13) but the rest of the world will morn (Matthew 24:30) because they know they are about to be judged.
  3. He will physically descend from Heaven just like he left (Acts 1:11) but it wont be just like how the apostles witnessed it, because this time the whole world will witness it (Revelation 1:7).
  4. He will descend to The Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4).
  5. The dead will rise and the believers will join Christ and be by his side (1 Thess 4:16-18) .
  6. Then judgment of the world takes place (Jude 14-15)
Revelation 19:11-16:
11"Then I saw jheaven opened, and behold, ka white horse! The one sitting on it is called lFaithful and True, and min righteousness he judges and makes war.
12 nHis eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are omany diadems, and he has pa name written that no one knows but himself.
13 He is clothed in qa robe dipped in4 blood, and the name by which he is called is rThe Word of God.
14 And the armies of heaven, sarrayed in fine linen, white and pure, twere following him on white horses.
15 uFrom his mouth comes a sharp sword vwith which to strike down the nations, and whe will rule them with a rod of iron. xHe will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
16 On his robe and on his thigh yhe has a name written, zKing of kings and Lord of lords."
That is God showing John what is going to happen.  John does his best (guided by The Holy Spirit) to be able to describe what he sees.

Those who believe are deemed justified through Christ.  There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1).  The second coming is a hoped for joyous event.  (see our article: What Happens When We Die) BUT for those who have rejected God's pardoning will now be held accountable. Their judgment has come and they will be judged by their own accord.  They do not have Christ's righteousness covering them nor has their sins been paid.  They must now pay for their own sins.  The second coming is going to be a very scary and sad event for all those who are not in Christ.

When Will This Happen:

No one will know!  If anyone says they know, they are lying or believe in a lie.  Maybe we can see about when it could happen but that's it.  "Like a thief in the night" (1 Thess 5:2, 2 Peter 3:10) - we may not know exactly when the thief comes but we know that they come at night when we aren't aware (Matthew 24:36-44).  No one will expect it (Luke 12:40).  Secondly, it is not for us to know when anyway (Acts 1:7).  We need to be more concerned about doing what we are commanded to do (Matthew 28).  There is no numerology method that will ever give any person the date and time.  If someone does argue for a date and time using any man invented methodology, they are already wrong because Jesus has already said they are.  The only sure thing is that it WILL happen and IS coming.

But we are told that it is in fact coming.  We will either die, and wake up in the presence of the Lord OR with in our life time He will descend.  Us being brought into his presence is coming.  We can "wait eagerly" (Romans 8:23, 1 Cor 1:7) because He does tell us it is near.  More closer now that Christ has paid our sins (Philippians 4:5, Rev 1:3, 22:10).
