God Does ALL The Work

It is ultimate satisfaction and relief to know and trust in God.  He does all the spiritual eternal work for us. The pressure and burdens of trying to love him, do good, and stay faithful to him all our life is on Him.  When we have faith in Jesus Christ, we experience the peace and joy from God doing all the work in our lives from beginning to end. From before the beginning of time, to us being lead and coming into faith, to us growing in faith, to our bodily death; God does all the work.  This is a deep and hard issue to accept.  It even turned away disciples of Jesus in his day.

God Chooses Us
Ephesians 1:4-5 "He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will"
John 6:64 "Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him."
1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
John 15:19 "If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you."
God knew you before you knew yourself.  In knowing every decision you would and could ever make, he saw in the maximal opportunities if you would desire to know him.  He sees an opportunity and takes it; before you were ever born.  The fact that anyone is chosen by God before they were born is solely "according to His favor and will", not ours.  That takes the burden off of us and on him for his will to be done in all perfect goodness.

God makes it clear in scripture that HE does the choosing of those who he will have believe in him.  In this choosing, Christ dies for their sins and their sinful debt has been paid already.
Romans 8:27 "And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."

Romans 8:33 "Who can bring an accusation against God’s electGod is the One who justifies."
God is the one that searches our hearts even before our earthly birth.  Those who will at one point desire God in faith, God WILL intercede on their behalf; all according to God's Will and not mans.  God is the one who elects and justifies, not man.  God does all the work before we are born.

God Enables Us
John 6:65 "He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.

Colossians 1:12 "giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light."

Romans 8:3 "What the law could not do since it was limited by the flesh, God did."
Romans 8:8 "For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God’s law, for it is unable to do so."
Jesus makes it absolutely clear that "no one can come" to God "unless" God has first enabled them to. God does the work of searching, interceding, and enabling faith.  The flesh (body and mind) is limited and is explicitly unable to come to faith on its own; thus, God does for man.  There is no witty mind blowing argument that will suddenly sprout faith and bring to live a soul.  God alone enables what is unable by man.
Romans 8:11 "And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through His Spirit who lives in you."
He alone has the power to save through his spirit.  He does all the work in choosing his own for salvation.

God Leads Us
John 6:29 "Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

John 6:37 "All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away."

John 6:44 "Jesus answered. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them"
Jesus again makes it explicit clear that it is "the work of God" to believe; not our works, efforts, and thoughts.  God The Father "gives" and "draws" those whom he has chosen to Christ Jesus and they "will come to" him, no doubt.  Mankind does not will themselves or draw themselves to salvation.  God does all the work in giving and drawing those to Jesus.
John 6:45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.(Isaiah 54:13) Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me.

Romans 8:14, 16 "All those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons... The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children"

Romans 8:28 "We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose."
God has seen and conducts those spiritual life bringing teachable moments and leads them by his Spirit for his purpose to salvation.  Again, he does all the work in teaching, enabling, and leading to salvation.

God Frees Us
Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed"

Galatians 5:1 "Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery"

Romans 8:21 "that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children."

John 8:32, 36 "you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free... So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. ”

Romans 8:2 "the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
All of God's work that brings us into salvation frees us from sin, and frees us to actually know him.  Where we can have an intimate personal fatherly relationship with him, for his purpose and glory.  God does all the work in freeing us from our sins!  Mankind may work to leave one sin but will inevitably fall into another sinful lifestyle without Christ Jesus.

God Gives Us Life
John 6:63 "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life."

2 Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

Romans 8:2 "the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

Romans 8:6 "For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace."
You can not be more clear than this: "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing".  In this true freedom from sin and freedom to know God, we are given true eternal spiritual life.   The Spirit gives life, not the will or efforts of mankind.  God does all the work in making people spiritually alive.

God Changes Us
2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

Matthew 3:11 "“I [John The Baptist] baptize you with water for repentance, but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove His sandals. He Himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Ezekiel 36:26 " I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
God is the one who changes our lives forever.  Even John The Baptist recognized the fact he was just using earthly elements that did not compare to what God himself will do.  God declares HE WILL give a new heart and spirit.  Mankind tries to change their lives but they only transition from one sinful lifestyle or sinful object of worship to another, knowingly or unknowingly.  God does all the work in changing a persons heart, body, soul, and mind!

God Empowers Us
John 6:45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.(Isaiah 54:13) Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me.

James 1:25 "But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works—this person will be blessed in what he does."

Romans 8:4 "...accomplished in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit."

Romans 8:26 "In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us"
Those who are in Christ and saved are taught by God on how to please Him and glorify Him.  Everyone who is saved, learns and grows because of God's enabling, freedom, leading, and teaching.  Not just teach but also help and intercede in us, for us.  When we are growing in knowledge and trust, we will absolutely grow in faith, but when we are not growing, God is still helping and interceding on our behalf.

God Keeps Us

John 6:37, 39 "All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away... And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day."

John 6:47 "Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life."

John 6:51 "I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever."
God makes it absolutely clear he will "never" drive anyone away and that he will lose "none" of everyone that was chosen by God.  They are given "eternal" life and will "live forever".  It is impossible to be given eternal life and live forever to lose it later.  Then the life that was given was not eternal or forever.  But God says it is; therefore anyone given eternal life forever is eternally saved forever.  This is an absolute work of God alone.
John 5:57 "Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me."

1 Peter 2:16 "As God’s slaves, live as free people, but don’t use your freedom as a way to conceal evil.

Romans 8:34 "Christ Jesus is the One who died,
but even more, has been raised;
He also is at the right hand of God
and intercedes for us."

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am persuaded that not even death or life,
angels or rulers,
things present or things to come, hostile powers,

height or depth, or any other created thing
will have the power to separate us"
We are eternally saved forever because of Jesus; and he does not make mistakes.  He does not change his mind and one day in the future to take away 'forever' and exchange it for 'maybe next time'.  It is forever because even when we do fail, he intercedes for us, and keeps us.  The Holy Spirit, through Paul, stated that nothing, "not even death or life" or "any other created thing" can separate us.  You are created; thus you can not separate yourself from God.  God does all the work of keeping us secure in his promises.

God Completes Us
John 6:39-40, 44 "And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.  For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day... and I will raise them up at the last day."

Romans 8:1 "no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus"
1 Corinthians 15:53 "For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality."

2 Corinthians 3:18 "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
Because there is no more condemnation that exists for those who are chosen and saved; there is no condemnation. period. God will not lose any of them for any reason, and they WILL have eternal life.  But not just that, we WILL be raised up and be made holy and complete!  God will not only save us in this life, raise us from the dead, but will also give us a glorified perfected imperishable immortal 'bodily' substance like Christ's resurrected body.  That is our completeness and perfection that "comes from the Lord".  All by God's will and purpose.  God does all the work in making us ready for the life after this one.

Without God

So what about those who God does not choose?  Does God choose everyone?  In Matthew 1:21 Jesus makes it clear he will save HIS people from their sins.  He did not say all people, but only his.  He also does not state that all people will be saved but only those whom the Father gives (John 6:37-40).  The prophet Isaiah makes it clear when he states "bore the sins of many"... not all (Isaiah 53:12).  Jesus' death could have saved every single person to ever exist; BUT not every single person, when given the maximal opportunities to accept this offer, will accept it.  It is unlimited in power but limited in scope.  Why? Because God searches the hearts of all those who will ever exist before they are born; He knows when each person is given the maximal amount of opportunities to desire Him, whether or not they will or wont.  God then chooses those who will but still gives the maximal opportunities for those who wont out of his love, kindness, and just nature. God does all the work in being perfectly just in his judgments on those who will forever reject him; knowing this before they are born.
John 6:53 "Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you."

John 6:63 "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life."

John 6:61, 66 "Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? ... From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him."

2 Peter 2:19 "They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them."

Romans 8:10 "Those who are in the flesh cannot please God."
For those who are given, and will be given, the maximal opportunities to know God; but will forever reject him: there is no spiritual life.  The flesh counts for nothing, they are slaves to one sin after another, and they can never please God.  Sounds harsh? Well it is, its harsh that they will forever reject God despite his perfectly justifiable offer of salvation and in his kindness allowing them to exist still knowing they will forever hate him.  They will forever desire to be without God, so God grants them that; for all eternity.

Conclusion

The hardest truth to accept is the fact that God does all the work and we do not.  We naturally desire to be God (Romans 5:12; Romans 8:7–8; 1 Corinthians 2:14) and this includes control over our own destiny with effort and thoughts.  At the end of the day, it is God in absolute control and it is God who does all the work.  The fundamental difference between those who are chosen, drawn, taught, empowered, and kept by God is that they desire to be like Christ (Ephesians 5:1) and not be God (Genesis 5:3).

For those who have been chosen and will be chosen; this is a RELIEF!  This is peace!  This is joy!  Knowing that God will work everything out for good (Romans 8:28) on their behalf for his perfect will and glory.  Those who are chosen for all eternity, have NOTHING to worry about because God Does ALL the work!
