GO TO: God

  1. The Trinity
  2. Jesus Is God
  3. The Holy Spirit is God (Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:30; Acts 5:3, 10:19–21; Genesis 1:2; Zechariah 4:6; Romans 8:14; John 14:26; Acts 8:29; Romans 8:2; 1 Corinthians 2:10–11, 12:11; Hebrews 9:14; Psalm 139:7; 2 Corinthians 3:17–18)
  4. God is always right, trustworthy, unfailing love, holy, forever (Psalm 33:4-5. 11, 21; 145:17)
  5. God is eternal (Psalm 41:13; 90:2)
  6. God is all knowing; past, present, future, all real possibilities in time and space and in eternity ( Psalm 139:1-4; 147:5; Isaiah 46:9-11; 1 John 3:20; Matthew 10:29-30; 1 Kings 8:39) (see #4, 6)
    1. God Chooses those who to save (Ephesians 1:4-5; John 6:64; 1 Peter 2:9; John 15:19; John 6:65; Colossians 1:12; Romans 8:8; John 6:29; John 6:37; John 6:44; John 6:45; Romans 8:14, 16; Galatians 5:1)
      1. Saves according to his will (Romans 8:27-28, 33; Ezekiel 36:26 )
    2. Conflicts with Open Theism.
      1. God does not learn, is not surprised, and knows everything within time because he is outside of time.  He is perfect in all ways, including knowledge all of events in space and time.
  7. God's will is perfect (Romans 12:2; James 1:17 (see #3).
    1. Jesus is perfect (Hebrews 4:15; Matthew 4:1-11; 1 Peter 1:19; Luke 23:4)
    2. God's Will does not change.  (Ezekiel 24:14; Psalms 90:2; 33:11; 41:13; John 17:5; 2 Timothy 1:9).
  8. God does not change (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Isaiah 46:9-11; Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17) (see #3 'trustworthy', #5)
    1. Exodus 32:12-14 describes God "relenting" after Moses pleads for his people.   But notice Moses is pointing out prior promises God had made (Exodus 32:13).  God was going to do exactly what Moses was pleading for in the first place.
    2. 1 Samuel 15:11 and Genesis 6:5-7 we see God 'regretting' something.  The word 'regret' in this context is a deep compassionate grief that requires corrective action.  That unmerited favor and continued existence despite of continued increasing sin is Grace (Romans 5:20b).  Grace is the perfect required corrective action (Genesis 6:8).
  9. God is Holy (Revelation 4:8; Acts 3:14; 1 Samuel 2:2; Hosea 11:9)
    1. Even angels in heaven hide their face (Isaiah 6:2) and feet (Exodus 3:5; John 1:27).
    2. Exposes the less than holiness of man ( Isaiah 6:5; Genesis 18:27; 33:20; Revelation 1:17)
    3. Must be made holy by God before entering in his presence. (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Romans 12:2; Isaiah 6:5-9; Leviticus 11:44; 1 Peter 1:16; Matthew 5:48; 1 John 1:8; Romans 8:3; Romans 8:11; John 6:63; Romans 8:2; Matthew 3:11; Romans 8:26; Romans 8:1)
