GO TO: Free Will

  • Hard Determinism or No Free Will is not supported by scripture
  • Libertarian free will contradicts scripture.
  • Natural boundaries of Free Will: humans can not will themselves to see every thought in the minds of people on the other side of the world; they can not will themselves to be actually present at multiple locations around the world at the same time; they can't will themselves to instantly know all there is to know in the universe;  they can't will themselves to conception (birth), and can't will themselves back from absolute bodily death.
  • Free Will spiritual boundaries, pre-Salvation see Total depravity
  • Within Natural Boundaries of Free Will: obligation to repent and believe (Matthew 3:24:17Acts 3:191 John 3:23; John 5:40)
  • Perfectly accountable for the free will choices within the Natural Boundaries (Galatians 6:7; Romans 1:20-21)
  • Free Will does not change God's ultimate plan (Romans 9:9-11, 15-16; Proverbs 16:9; Isaiah 46:9-10)
  • God's ultimate plan and will is forever just regardless of the Free Will of man (Romans 9:18-23
