The Romans Road

This is a very simple guide through the Gospel with only 4 verses.  This is known as The Romans Road and it contains the elements of The Gospel message.  When someone is ready to hear scripture, this can be a go to presentation and explanation of The Gospel.

Road 1.   Romans 3:23

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

Everyone has sinned presently and continue to fall short of God's Glory, making us sinful.

Road 2.   Romans 6:23a

"For the wages of sin is death, but..."

Because of our sins and its offensiveness it value is death and we earned it as our wage.

Road 3.   Romans 6:23b

"...the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Despite our sinfulness, God offers a free gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Road 4.   Romans 10:9

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

The requirement to receive this free gift is faith in Jesus as Lord God and what He has done.  Not only did he pay for your sin but He was raised from the dead to prove his righteousness and power. You don't really believe with your heart if you don't confess with your mouth.  Living for God in this life is a for sure result by believing with your heart.  One can not go without the other.  Faith compels works but works do not compel faith.  We aren't saved by our works but by God's Grace through faith.  We are saved by Christs works and that proceeds our faith.

Road 5.  Romans 5:1

"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Our faith in the person and works of Jesus justifies us before God.  Because we are covered by Christs righteousness we are at peace with God; no longer at odds with God because of our sins.  Our sins are paid for.  We are freed from the debt of sin.  Christ has Justified us before God and given us His righteousness so that we can come to God as a friend and more importantly as our Heavenly Father.
